About the employer:

Our client’s popular Vietnamese restaurant in a west Auckland shopping centre is looking for a new chef specialising in Asian or Vietnamese cuisine to join their current team. They are a small sized restaurant with a current maximum customer capacity of 30.

About the role:

The successful candidate will have to manage cooking to the maximum capacity as well as preparing for the day. Currently, they have a head chef operating their kitchen and the candidate of choice will likely assist their chef in day-to-day preparation and cooking.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop and review the menus from time to time;
  • Advise variation of food preparation cost on menu items;
  • Control stock and order food supplies when necessary;
  • Monitor food dishes quality at all stages of the food preparation and presentation process;
  • Communicate with director, other chefs and kitchen staff in relation to any quality issue;
  • Ensure that food and ingredients are properly stored and preserved;
  • Responsible for the tidiness and cleanliness of the equipment and environment in the kitchen and make sure that correct hygiene and safety procedures and guidelines are followed.
  • Supervise and train other kitchen staff when required;

Key Tasks:

  • Prepare ingredients, cook dishes, and arrange food on serving plates and containers;
  • Manage inventory and stock control.

Requirements:

  • Experience with cooking in any cuisine for at least 3 years
  • Qualification in cooking is preferred but is not essential
  • Be passionate about food and self-motivated
  • A good team player and willing to learn.

What to be Expected:

  • A minimum of 30 weekly working hours, full time work preferred;
  • Hourly pay ranges from $27-$30. Expect a guaranteed weekly gross pay of $810;
  • A rotating roster including weekends;
  • A permanent employment term.
